MailList Controller is an email mailing list, bulk email and marketing solution designed to send out personalized messages, manage multiple mailing lists, newsletters, campaigns, e-zines, announcements, support and group mails.

The program runs as service on your desktop, workstation or server. You can use the built-in mailserver for direct delivery or use an external SMTP server.  The WYSIWYG editor allows you to create personalized rich-text (HTML) messages or you use your default mail client. Other features are: webform requests, single and double opt-in, ODBC support, linked lists, returned message detection and many more.

Personalization

MailList Controller supports up to 15 custom fields for personalization. Fields can be used in rich-text (HTML), plain text, subject-line and from-line.

When the program sends out the message the placeholders are replaced with a value from the database. This placeholders have the format [...]. You can use any defined database field from the list here, e.g. [Name], [Address], [EMAIL] ... 

Internal WYSIWYG rich-text (HTML) Editor

The internal editor allows you to create messages for your list members easily. You can create complex HTML (rich text) messages as far as a plain text message. 

A message contains of several parts: content (html/text); attachments - (Files, images, ... ); settings - target-information (like "List", "From", "To", "Description", "Subject").

All these information is stored together in a message draft and could be saved.

External Mail Clients

MailList Controller allows you to use your default mail client (e.g. MS Outlook) to create personalized messages. This makes sending list messages as easy as sending a normal message.

You send the message to the list and MailList Controller sends the message out to all list members. The program sends out messages from authorized persons only (password protected). It also allows you to install the program on a central-point e.g. your server and send messages from multiple remote-location.

External Html Editor

The internal editor contains all functions and features to create complex HTML message, but you can also use an external HTML editor, e.g. MS Frontpage to create or edit the message.

You can edit the current message with an external HTML editor without leaving the program. All with a single click.

Supported Mailservers (external)
MS Exchange, Sendmail, Qmail, Windows SMTP Service, Mailsite, iPlanet Messaging Server, ArGoSoft Mail Server, SmartMail Server, Mercury/32, WorkgroupMail or any other SMTP server. 

Built-in Mailserver
In addition to the external mailservers the program can also send out messages using its built-in mailserver.

MailList Controller does not listen on any ports for incoming connections.
It does not require port forwarding or NAT.

• External SMTP server
  
  In this mode MailList Controller uses your or your ISP's mailserver to send out messages. You should always use your existing mailserver, if you run your own mailserver or if your mail account is not limited in the number of messages you can send out..
  
  
  
• Direct delivery (multi-threaded) with built-in SMTP server
  
  Use this option to send out messages directly to the recipients mailbox without using your or your ISP's mailserver (bulk email, direct relay). The built-in SMTP server can use up to 100 concurrent threads for message delivery (bulk mailer mode).
  
  
  
• Direct delivery with external backup server
  
  Send out messages directly to the recipients mailbox (direct relay), but use an external SMTP server as backup. This options assure the messages are delivered.
  
  
  
• Delayed send mode for external SMTP server
  
  In this mode MailList Controller uses your or your ISP's mailserver to send out messages, but after a specified number of messages the program waits for a specified time. Use this feature if your server is limited in the number of messages or you want to move load from your server.

MailList Controller managed List

List members are stored in an internal database, which is managed by MailList Controller. The program can use an MS Access database or any other ODBC connection (MS SQL, MySQL, ...) as internal database. 

This type of list is right for you, if new members should be able to subscribe/remove by themselve, e.g. with a webform. You can also add members from an database file with the import function.

There are 15 customized fields available for personalization.

Linked to an external data source List

In this mode MailList Controller links to an external data source and retrieves the members from the external database when you send out a message.

Use this type of list, if you already have a database which should be used, e.g. customer database.
Unsubscribers and "Returned Mail" are stored inside MailList Controller, the external database will not be changed (read only)

You can use up to 15 fields from the external database for personalization.

Database Viewer Add, Edit, Remove, Import, Export

MailList Controller provides all the tools you need to manage your mailing lists successfully. The built-in database viewer provides full flexibility in editing or searching for list members.

The import function can import MS Access, MS Excel, ODBC (MS SQL, MySQL, ...) and plain-text (CSV format) files. The export function saves your list members in an MS Access database. MailList Controller automatically sorts out duplicates.
